YASSINE ALAOUI ISMAILI aka YORIYAS is a Casablanca-based photographer and Performer. His Work has been featured in NY Times, the National Geographic, FIFA, 6Mois, Stern,The guardian, Volkskrant.
He started playing chess when he was five years old, leading him to fall in love with mathematics. By the age of 16, the influence of hiphop changed him completely. He became a street dancer. In a few years he created Lhiba kingzoo a Moroccan dance crew which become one of the best crew in the world.
While travelling around the world as a professional dancer for competitions he discovered his passion for photography. The unique blend of his North African heritage, chess and his love for dance lead him to one-of-a-kind methods of self-expression through photography.
‘’I am looking for an unexpected moment which can happen only once. One photograph can allow us to see, enjoy, care, think and ask questions about a scene we probably would not have noticed if it wouldn’t have been captured.’’ he says
Yoriyas won the first places in World street photography Hamburg 2015, Les nuit photographique Essaouira 2016 and finalist LensCulture Street Photography Awards 2016 and Sans francisco Street photography 2017.
