A conceptual Marsterclass Series

Kampala, Uganda

ROOTED is a 3-day immersive foundation masterclass in conceptual portraiture to discover personal mythology, seed your unique visual language, and allow the conceptual artist within to emerge. We will collaborate both online and physically. All session assignments are mandatory to attend to be considered for a prize.

Commencing April 10th 2026, you must be available for:

  • One (1) online 4 hr session.
  • Two (1) physical full day sessions at Afropocene Studio Lab

By the end of the session you will be equipped to:

  • Read and make meaning of conceptual portraiture.
  • Foundational development of your own conceptual visual language.
  • Understand lighting as important element for conceptual images & narratives.
  • Critically evaluate your own images for bias, gaze and intention.
  • Introduction to editing and mixed media to enhance your visual intentions.
  • Create a collaborative foundation to develop future conceptual narrative stories.
